Intern Insights with Jimmy Davila & Sameria Lamberth

Meet Jimmy, our Site Reliability Engineer, who started as an intern last summer. Jimmy discovered CloudFit's internship through Liberty University. His journey from intern to full-time employee has been filled with highlights, invaluable skills, and a passion for working with our amazing team.

As part of our JobFit internship program, every intern gets their own mentor from a full-time CloudFit employee to guide them through the summer, providing individual coaching, shadowing, and development from team members in those professions. This interview was conducted by Sameria Lamberth, one of our cybersecurity interns, with Jimmy serving as their coach. Throughout the summer, Jimmy has provided one-on-one mentorship to Sameria.

[Sameria] Last summer you were an intern and currently you are a full-time employe. Describe that experience and how Cloud Fit aided you throughout this process?

[Jimmy] Last summer, I was on the CS Team and my Coach was Morgan Segner. He offered great guidance and insight into this industry. I expressed early on that I wanted to work for CloudFit, and they took me up on that offer. Throughout the internship, I put my best foot forward and showed perseverance and drive. As full-time employee, I was also a full-time student online. CloudFit has supported me throughout this transition and continues to offer fruitful knowledge and opportunities.

[Sameria] How did the internship fuel your passion in this industry?

[Jimmy] This internship gave me hands-on experience working with the latest technology being used in the industry, as well as having the opportunity to work with FTEs who have years of experience in the field. All of this gave me the opportunity to learn new skills and enhance the skills I already possess.

[Sameria] Describe the workplace culture and the benefits of being at CloudFit.

[Jimmy] CloudFit is a company that wants you to succeed. They provide you with opportunities to advance in your career. Every employee here has a genuine and compassionate character. The work culture here embodies respect and resilience.

[Sameria] What insight would you give young professionals who want to explore this industry?

[Jimmy] There is no one path to getting into this industry. You can attend college, do bootcamps, complete certifications, and do internships. The most important thing is that you are willing to work hard and always be learning.
